fiction novel editingTED GASNER edited hundreds of award-winning fiction and nonfiction titles for Grades 4–12 during his six years as a Supervising Editor for Scholastic Inc. Ted developed book series for print, eReaders, and websites, then assigned topics to authors, helped them with their outlines and first drafts, and then took over from there to copyedit the final product.

Now a full-time freelance editor, Ted has drawn praise for his work on the rebooted Fujimini Adventure Series for OnceKids. “Ted has an amazing ability to boil it down to the best moments in the least amount of words! I really like all the sophistication he brings to the writing. Casual tone but with varying sentence structures that keep it interesting,” says Eileen Wacker, author of the series.

Ted specializes in developmental editing, copyediting, and proofreading picture books, literary nonfiction, young adult novels, and science and history titles for children from elementary through high school. By working as a team with authors, he helps them bring the best out of their manuscripts.

As a children's book author I was looking for an editor that would look at the interaction of the words along with the pictures on every page, not just the words on a typed document. Ted handled this task with mastery: He made each sentence as efficient as possible, while keeping a consistent style throughout. Always prompt in returning his edits, Ted made his comments and annotations directly on my PDF, making it a breeze to implement his feedback.—Alan Quinonez, author of Benito, You Can Do it! Series
